About us

It was way back in 1985 that Dr.Ramamurthy, started his practice in Dr.RamamurthyCoimbatore and Tiruppur. He had come well equipped with a MD Degree in Ophthalmology from the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi and MNAMS from National Board of Examination.

He had also undergone a fellowship in Vitreoretinal diseases and worked as a consultant at Sankara Nethralaya with the world renowned Dr. S.S. Badrinath.

Eye care was still in its infancy at that time and nearly two decades back Dr. D. Ramamurthy was the first to perform angiographies and laser treatment for various retinal disorders in this region. Surgeries like Retinal Detachment, Vitrectomy were performed with excellent outcomes. It was a period of steady growth.

In 1995 The Eye foundation moved to a bigger premises in Subramaniam Dr.ChitraRoad, with more inpatient facilities and a modern operation theater to perform cataract surgeries.

The Eye Foundation, at Coimbatore and Thirumurthy Netheralaya, Tiruppur headed by Dr. D. Ramamurthy along with his wife Dr. R. Chitra and a team of highly qualified young Ophthalmologists and Optometrists set about bringing the state of the art eye care in this region.

  • THE FIRST HOSPITAL TO PERFORM 1500 MULTIFOCAL IMPLANTS IN ASIA.
  • THE ONLY EYE CARE CENTER IN THIS REGION TO INTRODUCE ZYOPTIX - THAT PROVIDES SUPERVISION.
  • DR.D. RAMAMURTHY, MEDICAL DIRECTOR, THE EYE FOUNDATION IS THE FIRST SURGEON IN INDIA TO PERFORM PHAKIC IOL IMPLANTATION WHICH INVOLVES IMPLANTATION OF ARTIFICIAL LENS WITHOUT REMOVING THE NATURAL LENS.
  • DR. D. RAMAMURTHY IS ONE AMONG THE FIRST THREE SURGEONS IN INDIA WHO WERE SELECTED TO UNDERGO A SPECIALISED TRAINING ON PHAKIC IOL IMPLANTATION IN GERMANY.
