What is strabismus?

Strabismus, commonly known as squint, is a visual defect in which the eyes are misaligned and point in different directions. This is common in children and may be constant or may come and go.

What are the most common eye problems children have?

Refractive errors are the most common eye problem in children, which if not detected at an early stage and corrected can lead to amblyopia or lazy eye and even squint. Strabismus is another condition commonly seen in children.

What is amblyopia or lazy eye?

Good vision develops during childhood when both eyes are normally aligned or are adequately stimulated, which maybe absent in the presence of a squint or in uncorrected refractive errors. This results in poor visual development of the affected eye causing it to have poor vision.
